I now have a 1 year old. (12 month review).

Topic : Daily Glimpses

I’m now the mom of a toddler.

How do I know that?

Because those baby center updates I would get about “your baby week 7” now read “your toddler- week 1”.

I also know CBJ is a toddler by the standing, the peek-a-boo, and the clear demands for needs to be met. She also loves to laugh at us and is figuring out the logic of turning the lights on and off. Her personality is coming out more and more too.

There’s been a lot going on with little miss.

She had her 12 month check up and is weighing in at 24 pounds 12 ounces and is a tall 31 inches long.
She also has 10 teeth now.
I repeat. 10 teeth.
4 in front on top, 4 in front on bottom.
2 molars.
Lots of teeth people…

She’s standing and “cruising”. No steps yet but that’s all good.

She LOVES peek-a-boo.

She plays by hiding behind the rocking chair in her playroom and looking under the seat and to the sides.

She waves “hi” and “bye bye”.
She also points…at many things but mostly at the things she likes so, that would be…the dog, the fan, the blinds, mom, dad, lamps, the steamer (random, I know) and any pictures on the walls.

She LOVES to look at herself in the mirror and any book that has a mirror page on it is a favorite.

She gives “kisses” still and they’re still open mouth…can be awkward but very sweet.

She also like the dog bed now and will fling herself onto it face first- which is SO gross if you’ve ever seen our dog bed. :/

Still loving books.
We took some pictures with her favorite book, it’s called, Pantone Colors.

I’m going to try take one of these pictures every year…we shall see how that goes.

Favorite book- 1 year old

Things little miss doesn’t like: her changing table, getting her clothes changed, having to get into her car seat, getting things taken away from her (and really, don’t we all hate that?).
She also doesn’t like water being poured over her head in the bath but loves her baths.

CBJ really is a happy kid, that’s why the “doesn’t like” list is short. The things she really doesn’t like a few and far between.

I didn’t take a picture of her with a 12 month sticker, I wish I had but sure didn’t.
Le sigh.

She turned one last Saturday and we had a fabulous party. 🙂
I do have pictures from that so, they will have to count as her “12 month” picture.

Happy Birthday to Me!

We kept the birthday low-key, some family, some friends, and some food.

Mom, Dad, Baby

CBJ is really social and loved having people over. LOVED it.
I was waiting for a melt-down but she just smiled and loved being with everyone.

smiles all around

What she wasn’t into was her smash cake.

We don’t give her sweets so she didn’t know that it was a “treat”, which I actually think is a pretty good thing!

Everyone kept staring at her waiting for her eat SOMETHING so, I got some quinoa out of the fridge and she scarfed it right up. 🙂

Birthday Quinoa

I got her decorations off Etsy, at this store.
I HIGHLY recommend them.

So that’s where we are, 12 months or 1 year, however you want to put it.

I handled it fairly well, it is still hard for me to have Clarabelle grow up so fast but I also think that the anticipation of her turning one had me worked up.
The day came, it went, and all is well.

I’m going to write a whole different post on what’s been going on with us and breast feeding but we’re still going. 🙂

Emma, I have the same problem with Tess who is not quite 22 months. Still nursing and sometimes refuses to eat. We add raw sprouted protein to her smoothies. Not a huge amount but just a little. She will almost always eat eggs, pancakes and bacon (I'd very easily be ovolactovegetarian but Daddy is a meat eater) or eggs, guacamole, Brown rice and black beans. Or avocado. Those are my only two "go to" meals. And carbs. She'll eat cookies or crackers for days. Glad the doctor was supportive, I've been thinking about going there as well. I'm sick of the weaning conversation.

Scrambled eggs are a hit so I'm going to keep offering, avocado too.. I was impressed by Little Flower, it is so refreshing to be in a place that supports breastfeeding. Not a formula pamphlet in the place. And applause for continuing to breastfeed? Makes me want to go daily! It's far by driving standards (least from our house) but worth it to be able to not get hassled about parenting choices.

Wow, I'm so glad we aren't the only ones who have gone through all these ups and downs with nursing. G is still nursing strong at 14.5 months. There were times when I swore he was weaning himself (8/9 months, and I cried and cried), and nowadays lately he nurses like a newborn. Some days I have so much milk that I'm still spurting and needing nursing pads, other days I think he looks at me like, "Turn it on, mama!" I think the lesson after we have put all this time in it should be: our babies and our bodies know what to do! :)
